Sayazhan was born and grew up in China, but left the country in 2009 and changed her citizenship.
For the past 4 years she’s been fighting for freedom of her nephew Zhalgas. She says that he was arrested by the Chinese police for performing namaz.
Sayazhan’s story is one of the many similar cases. News of torture and oppression of Muslims, ethnic Uighurs, Kazakhs and Kyrgyzs in Xinjiang have been surfacing non-stop during the past 4 years.
